The Franklin County Sheriff s Office recently made two arrests in the homicide case of 30-year-old Travis Wayne Pannell, whose body was found Oct. 24, 2019, off the side of the road in the 7900 block of Jubal Early Highway in Hardy.
Patrick Antoine Davis, 34, of Danville, was arrested in Danville on Wednesday, April 28, and has been charged with second degree murder. He is being held without bond.Â
Mario Rayshawn Day, 26, of Roanoke, was arrested on Thursday, April 29, in Marietta, Georgia. Upon his extradition back to Virginia, he will be served with an outstanding warrant for second degree murder.
The Franklin County Sheriff s Office thanked the United States Marshals Service and the Virginia State Police for their assistance in locating and apprehending these individuals for their outstanding warrants.

The Jackson Police Department conducted a sex offender compliance operation, Operation Spring Sweep, which was supported operationally and tactically by the United States Marshals Service on Tuesday.
In an effort to assist state and local law enforcement, the USMS has been tasked by the United States Attorney General to provide needed assistance to law enforcement agencies that are mandated to comply with the Adam Walsh Child Protection and Safety Act.
In order to fulfill this obligation, the USMS has developed a system of partnering with state and local agencies to investigate, apprehend, and prosecute offenders that are not in compliance with their legal obligations that have been ordered upon them by the courts.

Two television journalists in Georgia caught a suspected murderer during a statewide manhunt.
J’ssan Carlos Strover, 20, escaped from custody while handcuffed, shackled, and barefoot. Adding further daring to his original feat, Strover was being led through the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, one of the busiest transportation hubs in all of the United States. According to authorities, Strover deftly pushed his way past two Arizona sheriff’s deputies after his leg restraints were removed in order to walk him downstairs to the airport’s rental car center.
Former 19 Kids and Counting star Josh Duggar has been indicted on charges of receiving and possessing child pornography.
A federal grand jury in the Western District of Arkansas indicted Duggar, alleging that in 2019 he knowingly received images of children under the age of 12. The former TLC star has been charged on two counts pertaining to child pornography.
On Friday, Duggar s attorneys – Justin Gelfand, Travis Story and Greg Payne – said in a joint statement that their client has pled not guilty to both charges and plans to fight back in the courtroom.
Charlie Robbins, a public affairs officer for the U.S. Attorney s Office in the Western District of Arkansas, told USA TODAY that the government has requested Duggar remain in jail. The former reality star s attorneys have requested a detention hearing to allow Duggar out on bond, which will be held virtually May 5, Robbins added.
