Statewide task force continues to root out fraud in California s unemployment system

As part of the ongoing effort to protect Californians from fraud and ensure the integrity of the state unemployment system, the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) in partnership with California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR), the California Employment Development Department (EDD), and the State’s Districts Attorneys, the US Attorney’s Office announced additional progress by a state-led task force on investigations and interdiction efforts and has instituted new safeguards to protect Californians from fraud. Since being established in November by Governor Gavin Newsom, the California Task Force on Pandemic Unemployment Assistance Fraud has led to the arrest of 68 individuals and opened 1,641 additional cases.

Suspects In January Murder At Hickory Business Still At Large Wanted Photos Courtesy of U.S. Marshals Service Suspects In January Murder At Hickory Business Still At Large April 26, 2021 It’s been approximately three-and-a-half months since a woman was shot to death at a Hickory business, and the Hickory Police Department along with other area law enforcement agencies are continuing to seek a pair of suspects wanted in that case. A national manhunt was also launched for 49-year-old Tangela Louise Parker and 61-year-old Eric Carroll Parker, both of Taylorsville. They’re wanted in connection to the murder of Phelifa Michelle Marlow on January 13.

By Steve Bailey Elijah Lipford Cleveland, OH - The Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force is offering a reward for information which would lead to the capture of fugitive Elijah Lipford. Lipford is wanted by the United States Marshals Service and the East Cleveland Police Department for attempted murder, felonious assault, and aggravated robbery. It is alleged that on November 19, Lipford shot Nathaniel Green, 19, at an address near the 1200 block of Lockwood Ave, East Cleveland. Lipford allegedly shot Green nine times and then proceeded to rob him. Lipford,19, is a black male, standing approximately 6 feet 1 inches and weighing 160 lbs.Lipford’s last known address is near the 2200 block of Green Road, Cleveland, Ohio.

Man Charged With Felony Assault Following Altercation With a 75 -Year-Old Woman

Hawai‘i Island police have charged 37-year-old Zachary Babosh of Volcano with assault in the first degree after an early morning assault. On the morning of April 10, 2021, police responded to a call at Hilo Medical Center where a 75-year-old woman with facial fractures and multiple injuries said she had been asaulted in the parking lot of a sports bar on the 300 block of Hualani Street in Hilo. A subsequent police investigation revealed that a male party struck her face repeatedly in the parking lot area. Police identified the suspect as Zachary Babosh.  After the incident Babosh fled Hawaiʻi County and travelled to Oʻahu before he could be arrested.
