Fargo - U.S. District Court Chief Judge Peter D. Welte sentenced Abdimanan Bana Habib, age 21 of Fargo, ND, to four months incarceration followed by three years of supervised released for the charge of Civil Disorder, 18 USC 231(a)(3). Judge Welte also ordered Habib to pay $2,500 in restitution.
On May 30, 2020, Habib participated in riots that erupted in Fargo following George Floyd’s death in Minneapolis. What started as peaceful protests in Fargo turned violent when rioters, including Habib, broke into several Fargo businesses and buildings, including JL Beers, Vinyl Taco, and the Exchange Building. In several instances, Habib is seen on video throwing what appeared to be rocks or debris toward police officers. Habib was also seen on video trying to ignite what appeared to be a bottle containing alcohol (aka: Molotov Cocktail), but was unsuccessful in doing so.
Wrigley had a
previous stint as U-S Attorney from 2001 to 2009, having been appointed by then-President George W. Bush.
The Department of Justice says, upon Wrigley’s resignation, current First Assistant U-S Attorney Nick Chase will serve as Acting U-S Attorney… until a new attorney is nominated by the President and confirmed by the U-S Senate.

Earlier today in brief letter to President Biden, United States Attorney Drew Wrigley resigned his office, effective February 28, 2021. Wrigley is the 19th Presidentially appointed United States Attorney in North Dakota history, and has been serving since being confirmed by the United States Senate in April of 2019. He previously served as the 17th United States Attorney, from 2001-2009.

derail a Burlington Northern Santa Fe train and corruptly attempting to obstruct an official proceeding. Judge Welte also ordered Goodman to pay $3,124 in restitution to BNSF Railway.
On May 7th, 2020, a BNSF train was traveling from Brenkenridge, Minnesota to Black Thunder Mine in Wyoming when it approached a crossing one mile west of Casselton at which point it encountered a rough track. The crew on the train immediately
