Medical Advocacy and Outreach (MAO) will host a drive through health and wellness clinic on Rosa L. Parks Avenue this Friday. Representatives from Sykes, a call-based customer service group, will also be on hand to hire job candidates.
Those who pull up to Metropolitan United Methodist Church on April 16 between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. can get a free health screening, blood pressure and glucose check and a quick HIV test either from their car or a take-home test kit.
Volunteers from participating health organizations such as the city’s 211 service, MACH, a homeless outreach group, and the Alabama Department of Public Health, among others, will be on hand to speak with people who want advice or information about services they offer.
Robert and Ellen Unger
EAST PALESTINE Robert L. and Ellen L. (McGath) Unger are celebrating 50 years of marriage this month. They were married at the Centenary United Methodist Church on February 27, 1971, with the Rev. Wallace Aker officiating.
Lifelong residents of the area, Bob worked for First Energy for 45 years, and Ellen loved her years working at the former Michele’s Flower Shop, East Palestine Community Preschool and Mill Creek Children’s Center.
They will be celebrated by their children, Jenny (Mike) Stadulis, Vicky (John) Snyder, Ryan Unger and seven grandchildren at a family dinner.
