Immigration Hard-Liner Files Reveal 40-Year Bid Behind Trump s Census Obsession

Weeks before the 1980 census officially began, the Federation for American Immigration Reform launched its campaign to exclude unauthorized immigrants from population counts that, according to the Constitution, must include the whole number of persons in each state. Belton Police to Receive Training in Excessive Force Intervention

Belton Police to Receive Training in Excessive Force Intervention Police departments across the nation have been under increased scrutiny in recent years, and many are endeavoring to provide officers with the additional training and tools they need to protect and serve their communities while fostering trust and goodwill with the people. The Belton Police Department s latest effort to accomplish this is participation in a nationwide training initiative called the Active Bystandership for Law Enforcement (ABLE) Project. ABLE, developed by Georgetown University Law’s Innovative Policing Program and approved by national civil rights and law enforcement agencies, is designed to provide officers with intervention strategies they can use if a fellow officer uses excessive force. Organizers say the project is evidence-based and has been field-tested, and every Belton PD officer will receive 8 hours of what they call active bystandership education training.

White House Confirms Support for Stimulus Checks for Citizens Born to Undocumented Immigrants On 2/9/21 at 5:12 PM EST A controversial vote by eight SenateDemocrats against stimulus benefits for undocumented immigrants last week forced the White House to clarify its own stance in favor of checks for the U.S. citizen children of undocumented parents Tuesday. The controversy on the left began when eight Democrats voted in favor of an amendment from Republican Indiana Senator Todd Young included in the COVID relief package. Some of the Democratic senators who voted for the provision included Colorado Senator John Hickenlooper, Senator Maggie Hassan of New Hampshire, and Arizona Senators Kyrsten Sinema and Mark Kelly, all of whom benefitted from the votes and organizing of Latino voters and immigration groups during their respective elections.
