A Lincoln store owner faces losing his premises licence after police seized illegal products, including medicines which required a prescription, unpriced alcohol and spirits without UK duty stamps.
City of Lincoln Council’s licensing sub-committee will decide the fate of Saman Osman Ali’s licence for Zabka on Portland Street next Thursday (February 11).
Lincolnshire Police chiefs say the business “conducted unauthorised licensable activity” .
In a series of reports to the council, the force outlines a visit to the premises on December 9, 2020, with officers from the authority’s Licensing and Environmental Health teams, Home Office Immigration and Trading Standards.

A breakdown of the estimated £100,000 cost of the Margaret Thatcher statue unveiling event in Grantham has been revealed by South Kesteven District Council.
The £300,000 bronze statue of the Iron Lady, which will sit on a 10ft plinth (making it 20ft tall overall), on St Peter’s Hill Green, was brought to the town by Grantham Museum, SKDC and a Public Memorials Appeal.
South Kesteven District Council’s leadership previously agreed plans to underwrite an estimated £100k unveiling, attempting to reassure critics the money would be recouperated through fundraising. However, scrutiny councillors later called on the authority to show how that can be done.

Lincolnshire Police finally launched an online portal where people can submit dashcam footage allegedly showing suspected driving offences.
They’re calling it Operation Snap, and they’re working together with Lincolnshire Road Safety Partnership.
This comes after 535 people were killed or seriously injured in crashes on the county’s roads in 2019, and a further 52 in 2020.
Once submitted online, evidence will be reviewed by police or an authorised person.
Lincoln release defender on deadline day
The defender leaves by mutual consent
Lincoln City defender Aaron Lewis has left the club by mutual consent on transfer deadline day.
The 22-year-old made just five appearances in all competitions for the Imps, scoring one goal.
He spent the first half of the 2020/21 season out on loan at League Two side Newport County, and will now be looking for a new permanent club.
Aaron leaves Lincoln on the final day of the January transfer window, after new arrivals made him surplus to requirements.
A spokesperson for Lincoln City offered thanks to Aaron Lewis and said: “We wish him well in his career.”
More than three-quarters of all major hospital trusts in England are currently reporting fewer Covid-19 patients than at their second-wave peak, new analysis shows.
In some regions, such as eastern and south-east England, all but one trust has dropped below the level seen at the peak of the second wave of the virus.
The proportion of trusts still reporting a record number of Covid-19 patients is slightly higher in north-east and north-west England, however.
The analysis by the PA news agency found that of 140 acute hospital trusts which reported figures for January 26, 122 – or 87% – had fewer Covid-19 patients than at their second-wave peak.
