The proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra has confirmed the killing of one its commanders, saying Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma will pay dearly.
The PUNCH had earlier reported that police operatives and their counterparts from the Nigerian Army and Department of State Services killed IPOB’s commander known as Ikonso and six other militia members in Imo.
The IPOB men were killed during an early morning raid on their hideout at Awomama village, Oru East Local Government Area of the state on Saturday.
Reacting in a statement signed by its spokesman Emma Powerful, IPOB said, “The killing of the heroic innocent Biafrans protecting our communities and towns from Fulani terrorists herdsmen masquerading as cattle herders in cold blood is very painful.”

An ex-aide to former President Goodluck Jonathan, Reno Omokri, has challenged Nigerian security agencies to eliminate the leader of Boko Haram terrorist sect, Abubakar Shekau, with the same force the security agencies used to crush a top member of the Indigenous People of Biafra, one Commander Ikonso.

The IPOB men, who were members of the secessionist group’s security arm, the Eastern Security Network, were killed during an early morning raid on their hideout at Awomama village, Oru East Local Government Area of the state on Saturday.
Following the death of the leader of the Eastern Security Network, ESN, Commander Ikonso, yesterday, the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Sunday said that the military wing of the group has gotten a new commander.

Reno Omokri, a former aide to former President Goodluck Jonathan, has challenged the army, DSS and other security agencies to eliminate the leader of Boko Haram in the same manner they killed a top member of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), one Commander Ikonso.
Recall that the IPOB members were killed during an early morning raid at Awomama village, Oru East Local Government Area of Imo State on Saturday.
Sources told Tribune Online that during the coordinated operation by the security forces the overall commander of the insurgents in the South-East popularly known as Ikonso Commander and six other armed fighters of the insurgent group were neutralised.

The Nigerian Army says a team of security forces led by troops of the Nigerian Army have raided the operational headquarters of terrorists in Awomama Village, Oru East Local Government Area of Imo.
The Director, Army Public Relations, Brig.-Gen. Mohammed Yerima, announced this in a statement on Saturday in Abuja.
Yerima said that the early morning raid by troops of Nigerian Army, Nigeria Police Intelligence Response Team (IRT) and operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) was conducted on April 24.
He said the operation was sequel to a detailed intelligence report on the location of the terrorists’ operational headquarters and the movement of the overall commander popularly known as Ikonson Commander.
