Hackney, Islington and Camden leaders call out NHS takeover

In a March letter to secretary of state for health Matt Hancock, also signed by Camden council leader Cllr Georgia Gould and Islington counterpart Cllr Richard Watts, Mayor Glanville noted that the transfer of control from AT Medics, which runs the surgeries in question, to Operose/Centene had happened with “alarming speed, with little public scrutiny or patient consultation, and little or no involvement of council partners or local patient groups”. Addressing North London councillors last month, Frances O’Callaghan, accountable officer for North Central London CCG, acknowledged that health leaders ought to have “picked up the phone to an elected member” to make councils aware of the change, but stressed there was “no attempt” to keep the information hidden.

The Heath, monarchy, Centene, Streatery and landlords | Hampstead Highgate Express

I have no idea what we can do but I feel so strongly about this I thought I’d email. A few people are spoiling the Heath for the many. To be honest, if it takes a ban on picnics and drinking to stop it then I’d be in support of such draconian measures if people cannot exercise the simple courtesy of taking their rubbish with them or depositing it in one of the many rubbish bins provided. If you have received any other letters on this and/or there is something I can do to help stop this antisocial, selfish behaviour then I’d be glad to know.

How does the government plan to reshape the NHS?

How does the government plan to reshape the NHS? Oli Hudson, of Wilmington Healthcare, explores the government’s new white paper, which proposes key reforms for health and social care Introduction The Government’s new white paper solidifies and codifies much of what has been happening in health policy around integration over the past five years, as reflected in the NHS Long-term Plan and the Five Year Forward View. Indeed the ‘Integration and Innovation: working together to improve health and social care for all’, white paper, which lays out legislative proposals for a Health and Care Bill, indicates a clear shift to collaborative working.
