Governor Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State has warned that the anthem currently being used by Oduduwa Republic agitators was approved for the state, not for any secession agenda.
DAILY POST reports that the Ondo State Executive Council (SEC), which was dissolved on February 18, 2021, earlier approved the indigenous anthem for the state.
However, some secessionists have adopted the anthem for their Oduduwa Republic agenda, especially those led by the Yoruba activist, Sunday Igboho.
But in a statement on Monday by his Chief Press Secretary, Olabode Richard Olatunde, the governor clarified that the anthem is aimed at promoting the Yoruba culture and not secession ideals.
Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu Aketi, SAN, has disclosed that the first of its kind Government House Mosque built by his administration will be commissioned by June 4, 2021, as part of the projects to mark his 100 days in office.
This development was contained in a statement by Olabode Richard Olatunde, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor.
The Governor said the mosque would be named after late Alhaji Khalid Fawehinmi, former Chairman, Ondo State Muslim Welfare Board, who died last year to immortalise him.
“The Mosque is the first of its kind in the history of the state as Arakunrin Akeredolu becomes the first Governor to build a mosque inside the Government House”.

The Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, on Thursday, approved the appointment of Mr John Adeniran Adeyemo, as the Head of Service (HoS) in the state.
A statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Olabode Richard Olatunde said Adeyemo appointment follows the statutory retirement of Mr. Dare Aragbaye on March 11, 2021.
Olatunde said the appointment of the new HoS is in line with the provisions of Section 208, Sub-section 3 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (As Amended) and in recognition of Adeyemo’s track records of years of dedication, trustworthiness, reliability and efficiency.
Prior to his appointment as Head of Service, John Adeyemo, who joined the state public service in 1990 as an Administrative Officer II was the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information and Orientation.
