An Irish broadcasting regulator has ruled it was not fair for a radio show panelist to brand JK Rowling a transphobic bigot without evidence.
The author, who has been furiously criticised over a raft of comments in recent months, was accused of transphobia on The Last Word with Matt Cooper last September.
Complaints were made following the Today FM broadcast, and Ireland s top broadcast regulator has now ruled the remark was not fair as there was no evidence to back up the claim.
The Broadcasting Authority of Ireland (BAI) added the host failed to challenge the statement, ruling that the Code of Fairness, Objectivity and Impartiality in News and Current Affairs was breached.

The Broadcasting Authority of Ireland (BAI) has upheld a complaint about British author J.K. Rowling being described as a transphobic bigot during a September radio broadcast.
A programme on Today FM in which a contributor referred to author JK Rowling as a âtransphobic bigotâ breached rules regarding fairness, objectivity and impartiality, the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland has ruled.
A complaint was submitted in relation to a segment of the Last Word with Matt Cooper on September 18th.
It stated that during the weekly panel discussion, one of the contributors stated that Ms Rowling was transphobic, without providing any evidence to back this up.
The complainant claimed the statement was not challenged by the presenter or any of the other panellists. The complainant said that this was a very serious accusation, and that the segment lacked balance, impartiality or objectivity.
