ISLAMABAD: As Prime Minister Imran Khan is heading for a do or die battle to save his seat by seeking the vote of confidence from the National Assembly on Saturday afternoon (today), the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) has announced to stay away from the lower house of parliament. In this connection, PDM chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, talking to the media in Sukkur on Friday, said the opposition members will not attend the vote of confidence.
On Friday, Prime Minister Imran Khan presided over a meeting of the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and its allied parties’ legislators to discuss the strategy relating to the National Assembly’s session on Saturday, wherein he will take the vote of confidence. In this regard, National Assembly Secretariat on Friday issued the order of the day for proceedings according to which Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi would move a resolution that the House reposes confidence in Prime Minister Imran Khan under Article 91(7) of

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan Thursday nominated the outgoing Chairman Senate Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani for the coveted post again, who enjoys apparently good support in the opposition camp as well.
Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Senator Shibli Faraz announced this on his twitter and posted photographs of the PTI leadersâ meeting presided over by Prime Minister Imran Khan. All those in attendance appeared in a pleasant mood.
Some insiders in the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf claim that the party fully respects the decision taken by the Chairman Imran Khan, but it may not have gone well with all and sundry, and also among the allied parties, particularly the Balochistan Awami Party, which has emerged as the second largest party in the PTI-led alliance in the Senate.

The government as well as the opposition on Monday both claimed victory following the Supreme Court’s opinion on the presidential reference regarding the voting method for the Senate elections.
Several government ministers, including Information Minister Shibli Faraz, and both the major opposition parties the Pakistan and Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) praised the ruling in their separate statements and media talks.
The federal cabinet members urged the Election Commission to chalk out a way for ensuring transparency in the Senate polls in the light of the Supreme Court opinion.
