Broadcasters adapt newer methods to engage with their viewers
The pandemic has not just pushed TV consumption by leaps and bounds, it has also brought newer trends for broadcasters to engage with their viewers. With work from home and online classes becoming a new normal, broadcasters are not just witnessing a spike in TV viewership and demand for quality contents but also a growing trend of cross-consumption of regional contents.
“Today, there is a lot of cross pollination of quality content happening from one market to another. For instance, several Tamil movies are travelling to Kerala and Telugu markets through dubbing, and we are seeing the same happen in other South markets as well,” Siju Prabhakaran, Cluster Head – South of ZEE Entertainment told

The kids genre saw highest growth rate followed by music and movies
Advertisement volumes on television during January 2021 grew by 23 per cent over January 2020, and by 19 per cent compared to January 2019, according to data shared by the Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC).
This year-on-year increase of 23 per cent in ad volumes in January 2021 is the highest in the past three years, BARC said in a statement on Thursday. The increment is seen across genres, with the kids genre seeing the highest growth rate followed by music and movies, it said.

Bengaluru, Feb 4: Raksha Ramaiah has formally been chosen as the Karnataka Youth Congress (KYC) president. The KYC elections were held in January 2021, nearly 10 months after the post fell vacant in March 2020 when Basanagouda Badarli’s term ended.
Ramaiah, who is 35 years old, is senior Congress leader and former minister MR Seetharam’s son.
In the meantime, the All-India Congress Committee (AICC) was in a dilemma whether to conduct a poll or to appoint the Youth Congress chief. The contenders for the post included Mithun Rai, Nalapad Haris and H S Manjunath. While Rai withdrew his nomination, top party leaders, it was a straight fight between Mr Ramaiah and Mr Nalapad.

MUMBAI: The Bombay High Court on Tuesday adjourned till February 9 the hearing on the bail plea of former BARC (Broadcast Audience Research Council) CEO Partho Dasgupta, who is an accused in the alleged fake Television Rating Point (TRP) scam.
Dasgupta, who was arrested by the crime branch of the Mumbai Police on December 24 last year, sought bail on parity arguing that all other accused persons in the case were out on bail.
