(ABC 6 News) - Minnesota has complied with the federal pause on the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, as recommended by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration as well as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The pause of the one dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine was recommended early Tuesday morning after six women ages 18 to 48 in the United States reported rare blood clots six to 13 days after receiving the J & J vaccine.
One woman has died and a second woman has been hospitalized and is in critical condition.
Gov. Tim Walz says this pause is being done out of an abundance of caution and should only last a few days.

News that one of three COVID-19 vaccines is being held for further federal evaluation comes as Minnesota experiences a rise in new COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations.
Locally, most of the doses of vaccine public health officials are receiving are not the Johnson & Johnson single-dose COVID-19 vaccine. Excluding the Johnson & Johnson vaccine won’t significantly slow vaccination efforts locally, health officials say.
