The idea popped into my head more than a year ago when we were brainstorming about what we could do to help the We Are Water expo scheduled for Rochester March 11 through May 10: why not photograph the Zumbro Watershed?
I’ve fished, canoed, hunted, camped and hiked in public lands and waters along the river valley but photograph?
For the stunning sheer bluffs, there’s the Root River Watershed; for wild lands and wetlands, the Whitewater Watershed; and the Mississippi River Valley is a photographer’s dream. But the Zumbro? It’s more of a watershed for a large urban center (Rochester) and a lot of farmland. Sure, it has a few trout streams and a lot of woods, but nothing like the Root or Whitewater.
