(ABC 6 News) - In May and early June every year, you may hear Click It or Ticket a lot. That s because of the national campaign on drivers not wearing their seatbelts.
112 Minnesotans died last year because they were not wearing their seatbelts. That s the highest number since 2012.
During the two-week Click It or Ticket campaign that just ended, law enforcement cited over 2,000 people across the state for not buckling up. We have to put a big asterisk beside not only 2020, but also 2021 because traffic patterns are not the same as they were before that. When I look at it proportionally, I think it s about what we would expect to see, Mike Hanson, director of the Department of Public Safety Office of Traffic Safety, said.
