Children s Home Society Celebrates National Foster Care Month News provided by Share this article Share this article GREENSBORO, N.C., April 29, 2021 /PRNewswire/  Each May Children s Home Society of NC (CHS) recognizes National Foster Care Month. This month salutes the irreplaceable value of foster parents, child welfare professionals, volunteers, and other members of the community who help children and youth in foster care find permanent homes and connections. This is a time to celebrate those who make a meaningful difference in the lives of the more than 423,000 children and youth in foster care nationally. Today there are over 12,000 children in foster care in North Carolina.  Sadly, these children must leave their homes due to crisis situations, and they look to loving adults in our communities for the things their own families are unable to provide.
