COVID-19 IN OKLAHOMA: Health experts look at factors in dramatic drop of new COVID-19 cases in Oklahoma

Oklahoma has seen a dramatic drop in new COVID-19 cases.But is this drop in new cases due to people staying home and winter weather, or is it a trend in the right direction?“We’re seeing great trends. In Oklahoma, there’s been over five weeks we’ve seen a decreased instance rate,” said Dr. Aaron Wendelboe, epidemiologist and professor at the University of Oklahoma College of Public Health.Doctors and health experts said the state’s cases have dropped greatly, and Oklahoma has even hit a milestone.“Of being under 20 cases per 100,000,” Wendelboe said.According to health experts, Oklahoma is back down to where the state was in mid-June, with the positivity rate being about 12.6%. Oklahoma City, however, is at 7.5%.“We’re seeing similar trends in decreases in hospitalizations and deaths,” Wendelboe said.“Thankfully, you hear some good news today.
