OKLAHOMA CITY -
Approximately 12,000 positions are up for grabs here in the Oklahoma City area as the Oklahoma Employment Security Commission hosts its job fair beginning Monday. We hear about restaurants who have to be open three days instead of seven or close early and open late because they do not have the workforce numbers they need, OESC executive director Shelley Zumwalt said.
The fair commences at the OKC Convention Center running from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. today and Tuesday.
After a challenging year in the job sector, the OESC is hoping to help those looking for a job find one easily and help companies who, as they reopen, need to hire quickly.

Oklahoma will pay people $1,200 to get off unemployment benefits and start working.
Gov. Kevin Stitt signed an executive order creating the Return to Work Incentive, which incentivizes finding a job instead of continuing to claim unemployment benefits.
The first 20,000 people who qualify and apply for the program will receive $1,200 after completing six weeks of a new job. Our challenge is not to get businesses back open; we ve done that. It s been getting employees back to work, Stitt said Monday. Without a doubt, one of the factors causing this has been the continued extension of extra federal benefits.
