SIBLEY, Iowa More than two dozen organizations, including several communities, were awarded grants in December by the Community Foundation of Osceola County.
The foundation was able to distribute $104,429.62 to 29 different recipients, though a traditional grant ceremony was postponed due to the ongoing pandemic. Instead, there is hope for a celebration this summer.
Stephanie Neppl, executive director of the Osceola County Economic Development Commission, said the foundation was able to fully fund 23 applications, and partially fund another six.

Norbert Bremer, age 84, of Arnolds Park, IA, formerly of Ocheyedan, IA died Sunday, December 13, 2020 at the Lakes Regional Medical Center in Spirit Lake, IA.
A private family graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 19, 2020 at the Ocheyedan Township Cemetery, with Reverend Perry Aalgaard officiating. Family will gather at the Jurren’s Andringa funeral chapel in Ocheyedan prior to going in procession to the cemetery. There will be military honors by the Wood-Miller American Legion Post No. 326. Service will be recorded and uploaded later to a link on Norbert’s obituary on the Jurrens Funeral Home website.

Cheryl Dake, age 67, of Harris, IA died Saturday, December 12, 2020 at her son’s home in rural Sibley, IA.
A private family memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 17, 2020 at the United Methodist Church in Harris, with Pastor Emmanuel T. Naweji officiating. Social distancing guidelines will be followed, and masks will be required.
Burial will follow at the Ocheyedan Township Cemetery of Ocheyedan, IA.
Public visitation will be Wednesday, December 16th, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Jurrens Funeral Home Andringa Chapel in Ocheyedan, IA.
Social distancing guidelines will be followed, and the family will not be present.
