Luke Kenny Spreads Word About Vaccine Written by SUNY Oneonta
Luke Kenny of Patterson, NY, joined over 50 SUNY Oneonta students in an effort to spread the word about the availability of COVID vaccinations to communities across Otsego County. Kenny is studying Computer Science at SUNY Oneonta.
The students, recognizing the need for additional outreach in areas where internet access isn t readily available, rallied together to distribute flyers to those who may need assistance with registering for a vaccine. The flyers share contact information that individuals can use to call for assistance when scheduling an appointment, as well as arrange for a ride to the vaccination site at SUNY Oneonta.
The Otsego County Office for the Aging is advising that contrary to some reports they do not have the ability to set appointments to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. Those 65 and older can call 1-833-697-4829 to attempt schedule an appointment but be advised it will take several weeks or even months before vaccine supplies are replenished. Currently, all local appointments are filled. Officials say they continue to ask the state for options to get the vaccine to the county’s senior community.
