Utica police: Domestic incident leads to handgun arrest
Staff reports
A 39-year-old Utica man has been charged for possessing a handgun following a domestic violence incident, according to the Utica Police Department.
Police were dispatched shortly after 7 p.m. Friday to a home on Richardson Avenue in Utica for reports of a domestic incident involving a man with a handgun. Police could hear yelling inside and were able to contact a woman who said her boyfriend threatened to shoot her during an argument, police said.
The suspect, Ezra McClain, had gone into the basement but re-entered the back of the home where he encountered police. He fled out a back door but was stopped a short distance away, police said. In the basement, police found a loaded 9 mm handgun and two extended magazines.
