A Fayetteville man was arrested Thursday after Sherriff’s deputies found a stolen handgun in his vehicle during a traffic stop in DeWitt, according to the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office. Abduallah Abouelamayem, 18, was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, and third-degree criminal possession of marijuana. He also received a ticket for window tints, deputies said. Deputies stopped Abouelamayem in a Mercedes Benz SUV at about 5:07 p.m. Thursday in the 6800 block of East Genesee Street, deputies said. Deputies began a search of the vehicle after smelling marijuana, and found a loaded Smith & Wesson .22 caliber handgun, deputies said. More than 8 ounces of marijuana was also found in the vehicle, deputies said.

Deputies, state police work together to get man out of second-floor of burning home in Van Buren Updated Mar 11, 2021; Van Buren, N.Y. – Two Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office deputies and two state troopers Thursday morning helped rescue a man trapped in a burning home in Van Buren. The officers were called to the house fire at 4:26 a.m. at 127 Cedarwood Boulevard, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office. Deputy Laura Collins saw heavy smoke and flames coming from the rear of the home when she arrived, said Sgt. Jon Seeber, a spokesman for the sheriff’s office. We now know the name of the 17-year-old who was shot and killed by law enforcement following a mental health call in Jamesville on March 4th. New York State Police say units were called to assist the St. Joseph Comprehensive Psychiatric Mobile Crisis Outreach Team in handling an incident involving 17-year-old Judson Albahm. When officers arrived on the scene at Apulia Road, Albahm fled on foot with what police have confirmed was a Glock G19 Gen 3 .177 CO2 Action Pistol Handgun, otherwise known as an air pistol. Officials say as Albahm was running from police, he pointed the air gun in their direction as if he were going to fire towards them. Ultimately the responding officers discharged their weapons, striking and killing Albahm.
