The new Duqm Naval Dockyard (DND), a joint venture between Oman Drydock Company (ODC), wholly owned by the Omani government, and Babcock International Group, the UK’s leading engineering services provider for the British Navy, will formally come into operation next month.
The official launch of the new entity, which will be located at ODC’s state-of-the-art ship repair yard at Duqm, will help fuel the inflow of naval ships from British, European and other friendly international navies for repairs and maintenance services in the Sultanate.

HMS Montrose Returns To Patrols After Overhaul In Oman
The Type 23 frigate has been stationed in the Gulf for the last two years and underwent the overhaul 270 miles south of Muscat in Oman.

HMS Montrose is back on patrol after becoming the first Royal Navy warship to receive an overhaul at a new port in Oman.
The harbour at Duqm, carved out of sand and stone over the last decade, is now an important staging post for Royal Navy and Royal Fleet Auxiliary vessels in the region.

According to a press release published on January 11, 2021, Duqm Naval Dockyard (DND), the Joint Venture between Babcock International and the Oman Drydock Company (ODC), has successfully completed a four week fleet time support program (FTSP) for the UK Royal Navy frigate HMS Montrose.

The maintenance period enabled the DND team to complete essential repairs and performance improvements, ensuring an on-time on cost turnaround of HMS Montrose back to operational duties in the Gulf and the Indian Ocean.
