Mammoet to deliver two onshore oil rigs to Oman
DUBAI, 1 days ago Mammoet, the global heavy lifting and transport specialist, has been contracted by Khimji Ramdas Shipping (KRS) to safely deliver two pre-assembled onshore oil rigs and accessories from a fabrication facility in the UAE to a site in Nimr, Oman. Manufactured in the UAE, these new generation fast moving rigs are a new addition to the current fleet of Oman’s largest drilling company - Abraj Energy Services SAOC. Shipping of oversized and heavy cargo requires specific expertise, as infrastructure limitations create bottlenecks that demand alternative transport approaches. At 37.7m long and 10.7m high and up to 471t, the sheer size and weight of the pieces meant Mammoet had to compose an optimal route for the cargo by performing the necessary route studies and obtaining required permits.

Muscat: The number of passengers traveling through the Sultanate's airports has decreased by more than 75 per cent till the end of January 2021.
A statement issued online by Oman News Agency (ONA), said:"The number of passengers traveling through the Sultanate's airports (Muscat International, Salalah, Sohar, and Duqm) until the end of January 2021 decreased by 77.5 percent, to reach about 357,923 passengers, according to the National Center for Statistics and Information "

DUBAI (Reuters) - Oman will reduce income tax for small and medium businesses for 2020 and 2021 and will offer long-term residency permits for foreign investors, state TV said on Tuesday.
The plans announced on state media are part of Oman’s Vision 2040 aimed at diversifying the economy away from oil, which makes up the bulk of state revenues.
Oman is one of the Gulf’s weakest economies and was hit hard by the coronavirus pandemic and low oil prices. The International Monetary Fund said last month its economy likely shrank 6.4% in 2020 and estimated it would make a modest recovery to 1.8% growth this year.

Muscat: An integrated electricity and water station, located in the Special Economic Zone of Duqm (SEZAD), has began trial operation tests.
A statement issued online by Oman News Agency (ONA) said: "The integrated electricity and water station in the Special Economic Zone of Duqm begins trial operation tests after receiving the first quantities of natural gas designated for its operation. The station's production capacity is 326 megawatts of electricity and 36 thousand cubic meters of water per day. "
