Another 65 cases of COVID-19 for the BC Interior
Another 65 cases of COVID-19 were identified in the BC Interior over the past 24 hours.
It brings the region to 11,490 total cases since the start of the pandemic, with 481 currently active.
There are 26 people hospitalized with COVID-19 in the BC Interior and 10 of them are in critical care.
Interior Health’s pandemic death toll remains at 140 with no new fatalities reported over the past 24 hours.
Another 8,771 BC Interior residents were vaccinated since Monday as the province’s vaccination program picks up steam thanks to increased supply.
Here’s an update from the health authority on its three active outbreaks:
IH reports 131 new COVID-19 cases, additional deaths including person in their 40s
Another 131 cases of COVID-19 were identified in the BC Interior over the three-day weekend reporting period.
It brings the region to 11,425 total cases since the start of the pandemic, with 461 currently active.
There are 26 people hospitalized with COVID-19 in the BC Interior and 12 of them are in critical care.
Due to data issues on the BC Centre for Disease Control’s COVID-19 dashboard, we haven’t reported on pandemic deaths since last Wednesday.
Since then, nine BC Interior residents have died of COVID-19, which includes a person in their 40s who died over the weekend, health officials confirmed today.
Interior Health reports 38 new cases of COVID-19, more than 320,000 first doses administered
Another 38 cases of COVID-19 were identified in the BC Interior over the past 24 hours.
It brings the region to 11,287 total cases since the start of the pandemic, with 529 currently active.
There are 24 people in Interior Health hospitals with COVID-19 right now and 13 of them are in critical care.
IH also announced on Friday that more than 320,000 first doses of the vaccines have been administered throughout the health authority.
“Across Interior Health, hundreds of people attending their appointments at immunization clinics every day and emerging with a dose of vaccine that will protect them from serious illness or death by COVID-19,” IH president and CEO Susan Brown said.

One resident and one staff member have tested positive for COVID-19 at Spring Valley Seniors Community long-term care, according to an Interior Health media release issued today, April 28. Contact tracing is underway and anyone in close contact is being provided direction on self-isolation and is monitoring for symptoms, Interior Health said. The long-term care facility is operated by Park Place Seniors Living with 150 publicly-funded long-term care beds. Interior Health is monitoring the situation, while implementing infection control and preventive measures. To protect the safety of all residents, outbreak protocols are in place, including a pause in all visits.
