(KTVZ) There are three new COVID-19 related deaths in Oregon, raising the state’s death toll to 2,460 and 888 new cases, the highest daily case count in 2 1/2 months, the Oregon Health Authority reported Saturday. OHA reported 888 new confirmed and presumptive cases of COVID-19 as of 12:01 a.m. Saturday, bringing the state total to 174,501. It s the highest daily figure since 964 cases were reported by the agency on Feb. 1. Vaccinations in Oregon OHA reported that 44,308 new doses of COVID-19 vaccinations were added Saturday to the state immunization registry. Of this total, 27,728 doses were administered on Friday and 16,580 were administered on previous days but were entered into the vaccine registry on Friday.

Credit Oregon Office of Emergency Management State 911 Program Manager Frank Kuchta says as wildfires burned around the state last summer, dispatchers remained on the front lines. “Many of the telecommunicators and dispatchers that work throughout the state have very close ties with their communities,” he said, “and in many instances they are very familiar with the caller on the other end of the line.”
