PORTLAND, Ore. The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality has fined the state’s largest glass container recycler over $1 million for repeated air quality violations.
The agency said last week it had issued a $1.03 million fine to Owens-Brockway, a subsidiary of glass manufacturing giant O-I Glass Inc., The Oregonian/OregonLive reported. The state said the fine was issued after the company repeatedly failed to adhere to the emissions standards required under its permit.

There are less than three weeks until the state’s constitutional deadline to establish a budget. With federal aid and large tax revenues, the state plans to spend approximately $3 billion more during the 2021-2023 cycle.

A Hillsboro-based oil and fuel supplier has been fined more than $50,000 by state environmental regulators for violating underground fuel storage requirements.
Two Bretthauer Oil Co. facilities located near Pacific Pride gas stations in Hillsboro received fines, according to notices issued in late April by the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality.
At one facility, located at 453 S.W. Washington St., Bretthauer Oil officials failed to install, maintain and monitor a leak detection system on an underground fuel storage tank, DEQ officials said.
