Washington County authorities announced Tuesday that they had recovered additional remains of an Aloha woman who killed and dismembered in 2018. Jeremiah Johnston, 38, was sentenced in 2019 to life in prison for murdering Sara Zghoul, 28. Authorities found Zghoul’s dismembered body in Johnston’s car, but he refused to reveal what he had done with the woman’s head. The body part was recovered .

Cases, hospitalizations fall while workplace outbreaks increase
COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations declined last week, for the second week in a row, the Oregon Health Authority’s weekly COVID-19 report shows.
OHA reported 4,896 new cases of COVID-19 between May 3 and May 9. That’s a 12% decrease from the previous week.
New COVID-19 related hospitalizations also fell, from 272 to 245.
COVID-19 related deaths, however, nearly doubled, from 16 to 31.
There were 111,121 COVID-19 tests performed during the week. Of those, 6.1% were positive, down from 6.8% the previous week.

Oregon reports 611 COVID-19 vaccine breakthrough cases
The Oregon Health Authority has identified 611 COVID-19 vaccine breakthrough cases through May 3, including eight deaths.
Vaccine breakthrough cases are defined as instances in which an individual receives a positive COVID-19 test result at least 14 days after completing a COVID-19 vaccine series.

Of the 611 reported breakthrough cases, 89 cases, or 14%, were in people who live in long-term care facilities or other congregate care settings.

Cases rise for a fourth consecutive week
The Oregon Health Authority’s weekly COVID-19 report shows cases rising for a fourth consecutive week.
OHA reported 4,742 new cases of COVID-19 between April 12 and April 18. That’s a 27% increase from the previous week.
New COVID-19 related hospitalizations rose from 156 to 171.
There were 19 COVID-19 deaths reported.
The report shows 24 active COVID-19 outbreaks in senior and congregate living settings.
So far, there have been 642 outbreaks with 13,968 cases and 1,311 deaths in those settings.
There are three active outbreaks in Marion and Polk counties:
