OVERLAND PARK, Kan. â Newly obtained information raises new questions about the credibility of a key investigative report in the deadly shooting of a teen by an Overland Park police officer in 2018.
Former Overland Park Police Officer Clayton Jenison shot and killed 17-year-old John Albers as the boy was backing the family minivan out the garage.
The incident took place after police were called to the Albersâ home for a welfare check on the teen.

May 9 On one side, the coin was to feature a cartoon image of a 1970s pimp with a biracial complexion, dressed in platform shoes and a wide-brimmed hat.
On the other: a silhouette of a woman in a sexually suggestive pose, and a set of handcuffs attached to a pair of brown hands.
Advertised in the Kansas City Police Department s newsletter, The Daily Informant, the challenge coin was meant to commemorate the police department s vice unit, tasked with investigating illegal sex work, alcohol sales, adult entertainment venues and human trafficking.

Law enforcement agencies, now and before Johnson County s official mask mandate ended, say they have approached mask disputes with efforts to calm the situation and mediate between parties before making arrests. Even though Johnson County no longer requires masks to be worn in public, local police departments maintain that reaching a peaceful resolution is preferable to arrests and charges.
Johnson County’s mask order has been lifted, but businesses and organizations that still require masks on their premises can call police if someone without one refuses to leave.

Faith leaders urge police chief to resign over teen s death

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. (AP) Overland Park officials agreed to release an investigative report into the fatal police shooting of a 17-year-old, just hours after a group of faith leaders called for the police chief s resignation over his department s handling of the case.
On Monday, members of MORE2 said Chief Frank Donchez should resign because of a pattern of a lack of “transparency, accountability and discipline” in the department. A city statement released later in the day did not address the issue of whether Donchez would step down.
The department has been under scrutiny since an officer fatally shot John Albers as the juvenile backed out of his family s driveway in 2018.
