Maria (of local Nona s Market fame) was asked several questions about her history with food and how she honed her cooking craft when she entered the contest. Maria started her cooking venture late in life. She says, We have eight children and somewhere along the line food became our glue. And that love for preparing food, thankfully for the rest of us, quickly grew beyond the walls of her own kitchen. She started helping friends with weddings, birthdays, and other special events. Today, you ll find Maria catering a variety of events around the city.

I normally like to have strawberries instead of blueberries in my smoothie but thought this might be interesting. I threw all the ingredients into my blender and added ice and some chia seeds and HOLY MOLY it worked. I had stumbled accidentally upon the most delicious smoothie I had ever tasted.

After a long hard year, it s nice to see things becoming more normal . FINALLY. And, what s more normal than camping or glamping at Rough River Dam State Resort Park. While the buffet won t open back up quite yet, you can still enjoy a meal or on a sunny day, sit on the patio. You can also order carryout and eat your meal in your cabin, or room. Either way, the views of the lake and area is beautiful to sit back, relax and dine.
