Coming up on Thursday, January 14th, 2021 there will be a Healthcare Heroes Appreciation Event from 11AM to 4PM. Stop by the new facility, eat a pretzel, and a portion of the proceeds will benefit the Alzheimer s Association.

The pandemic proved to be a make or break for many people. Owensboro High School football standout, Austin Gough is one of those who found more to life than just living.
Austin is one of five children the fourth to be exact. The Gough family is a true American hometown family. If you wanted to find them on any given weekend you can be almost 100% positive it s at a sporting event, the lake, or doing some type of community activity TOGETHER. They re the type of family you see in photos and think I wish they were my family
Aside from having an amazing family, Austin is an all-around stellar athlete. He was named Defensive Player of the Year by the Owensboro Times, one of Kentucky s Top High School Football Players of 2020, and the list goes on. The crazy thing is even being a part of all of this you can still take it all for granted.

The ATHENA award founded in 1982 by Martha Mayhood Mertz. ATHENA International is a non-profit organization which seeks to develop and honor women as leaders in our world. The purpose is to encourage and inspire women to seek out and reach their full potential.
Girls Inc. of Owensboro-Daviess County and the Greater Owensboro Chamber of Commerce developed the ATHENA awards locally in 1999. Their vision was not only to recognize but empower those women who have opened doors and enable other women in our community to want to serve and realize what they can do if they reach deep within.

Pizza is one of the BEST food items ever, and comes in endless varieties and tasty options. But, who serves up the best in the tri-state? Crust me, there are many great options! If I ve left anyone off, it wasn t intentional. It took many research hours to identify all of the locations below. Just let me know and I will add them to the poll, if I did leave someone off.
I can be superstitious about certain things. For example, if I see a penny lying on the ground and it s heads up, I ll pick it up. If it s tails up, I ll flip it over and leave it for the next person.
I always throw spilled salt over my left shoulder, too. So, I pick and choose my superstitions, I guess. Some would say that that won t work. Well, some can say whatever they want.
I also alter superstitions, too. If I have black-eyed peas within a week of the beginning of the new year, I m fine. I don t need to eat them on New Year s Day. And this year, especially, since I fell in my carport and have been nursing a strained knee since that time. (It s a lot better now)
