As we have explained in news stories this week, all slots for today’s COVID-19 vaccination clinic in Ohio County for residents 80 and older are full.
The Wheeling-Ohio County Health Department on Tuesday said some residents reported receiving a text message claiming they did not need an appointment for today’s clinic, which is being held at the health department.
That message is false.
The reality is there is a limited supply of COVID-19 vaccine available right now. Ohio County was alloted 100 doses for this clinic, and a portion of those doses already went to residents at two local facilities that house older residents.
From STAFF REPORTS
Wednesday is the first chance for Ohio County residents age 80 and older to receive a COVID-19 vaccine. It is far from the last.
The Wheeling-Ohio County Health Department on Tuesday announced eight more COVID vaccination clinics for Ohio County residents 80 and older. The department received 650 doses of Moderna vaccine to distribute.
The new clinics will be held daily from Jan. 7-14 from 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m., with appointments every 10 minutes. To book an appointment, call 304-234-3756 starting 8:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Please bring a photo ID, including proof of age and residency, like a West Virginia driver’s license.
