Evangelical pastors COVID-19 vaccination approach requires balancing act

And experts are encouraging them to use it.  There is research that shows that if we share a common identity, then a person can convince me, said Elaine Howard Ecklund, director of the religion and public life program at Rice University in Houston. So, say we re both Christians, you could convince me to change my mind, perhaps, if I trust you about something we don t agree on. Sharing that common faith perspective on the world and then often being respected by their congregants often gives pastors leverage. Research supports this theory. Almost half, more than any other religious group, of white evangelical Protestants who regularly go to church and are vaccine hesitant say faith-based intervention would make a difference in their response to the vaccine, according to the study.

Inside you’ll find tools to help control bleeding on yourself or someone else until help arrives. Those tools include a tourniquet. A dozen kits were purchased in 2020 and some are available in hallways next to AED kits. Those kits can be used to help someone suffering from a heart-related medical crisis. “At the medical center and out in the community we’re trying to give people awareness on how to use a tourniquet,” said Dr. Nicholas Kman, professor of emergency medicine at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.
