2020 Women of Achievement Recipients Recognized
MUSKINGUM COUNTY, Ohio- The 2020 Muskingum County Women of Achievement recipients are continuing to be recognized virtually this week.
The seven 2020 recipients were chosen and announced last year and had a chance to have a luncheon together right before the state shut down due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Now, a year later, these women are being celebrated through Facebook with video tributes. “I hope that at some point we get the chance to celebrate in person again and I just truly want to congratulate each one of them. They’re so unique, they have such great skills and charisma. If watching their videos on Facebook this week doesn’t make people feel proud about the community we’re in, I don’t know what would,” said recipient Sarah Wickerham.
NEW CONCORD – Sometimes a career comes about through unexpected twists and turns. So it was for Garrett Chapman, owner of Chapman’s Coffee House in New Concord.
“I took a mission trip,” he explained, “to the Dominican Republic in 2013 with our church to a school there called Doulos Discovery. The school is tied in with a coffee business that grows coffee on Spirit Mountain not too far from the school. That was probably the first time I thought about coffee as a business.
“I always wanted to be a stockbroker and/or own my own financial services business,” he added.

Shae Burkhart
I am writing to nominate Shae Burkhart for the Mike Kline Spirit Award. Shae is currently a 3rd year nursing student in the BSN program. I am nominating Shae because I feel he epitomizes the qualifications of this award.
On October 18, 2020 Shae experienced the tragic loss of his cousin Valerie Hickman, a 2nd year nursing student in our BSN program. Shae and Valerie were very close and enjoyed spending time together. They were together on the night of Valerie’s unexpected death. When Valerie became unresponsive, Shae assisted his cousin until first responders arrived.
