OU College Republicans host Oklahoma Sen James Lankford for discussion on issues facing Republican Party

OU College Republicans hosted Oklahoma Sen. James Lankford in a socially distanced conference room at the Thurman J. White Forum building Thursday afternoon. The hour-long event served as a Q&A for the roughly 30 students in attendance to discuss multiple issues looming in the U.S. and for the Republican party, including the Jan. 6 insurrection at the Capitol. Joseph Howard, international studies junior and OU College Republicans chairman, said he wanted to begin the Q&A with a question about the Jan. 6 riot since Lankford was the last person to speak in the senate chamber before the mob entered the capitol.

Oklahoma Sen. James Lankford will visit OUâs campus Thursday, according to a mass email from the OU College Republicans. Lankford will speak in person at 12 p.m. April 8 at the Thurman J. White Forum Building, Conference Room B, according to the email. Lankford will touch on a âvariety of topics with the potential for Q&A.âÂ All students, faculty and staff are invited, according to the email, and those interested in attending can register here. Seating is available on a first come, first serve basis. Social distancing and masking will be enforced at the event, according to the email.
