Taking advantage of the situation, black marketers have increased the prices of oximeters almost by 200%.

GUWAHATI: In an attempt to curb the spiralling COVID-19 cases, the Assam government on Monday ordered to shut all markets and shops by 6 pm across the state, and made wearing of face mask mandatory even for a single person driving a vehicle.
In an order, to be effective till May 1, the Assam State Disaster Management Authority said that the earlier notification with a set of restrictions issued on April 20 for all districts having 100 or more active COVID-19 cases has been expanded to cover the entire state with immediate effect.

The body of an unidentified man was recovered from the bank of Brahmaputra at Bhutnath here on Saturday evening.

GUWAHATI: The body of an unidentified man was recovered from the bank of Brahmaputra at Bhutnath here on Saturday evening.
The floating body was first noticed by some people, who informed Bharalumukh Police.
Subsequently, the River Police recovered the body. It was sent to Gauhati Medical College & Hospital for post-mortem.

GUWAHATI: Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has asserted that there would not be any crisis or shortage of beds for COVID-19 patients in government hospitals in the city for the next one week.
Sarma told reporters at the Gauhati Medical College & Hospital (GMCH) premises on Saturday afternoon that even though the number of COVID-19 patients is increasing on a daily basis in the city, the government hospitals including the GMCH and the MMCH have adequate number of beds.
