Road rage: Man who drove with woman on hood for 1 km ‘did not intend to kill’

IBARAKI (TR) – A road rage incident in Kasama City on Sunday included an elderly man driving for nearly 1 kilometer with a woman atop the hood of his vehicle, police have revealed, reports NHK (April 4).
At around 12:30 p.m., Kansho Tashiro, a 78-year-old resident of Kasama, drove off with the woman, 30, atop the hood of the vehicle on National Route 355.
Police allege that Tashiro attempted to shake the woman from the hood by weaving and abruptly applying the brakes over a distance of 960 meters to kill her.

Ibaraki police shoot, injure drunk man wielding knife during fight

IBARAKI (TR) – Ibaraki Police shot and injured a 25-year-old man who wielded a knife during a fight in Kasama City on Wednesday, reports Fuji News Network (Dec. 30).
At just past 5:00 a.m., police received a call about a fight between two men at an apartment building.
Officers arriving at the scene found Kazuki Ikeda wielding a knife with a 40-centimeter-long blade during a fight with a second man.
After Ikeda refused to drop the weapon, one officer shot him in the back and side. He was then arrested on suspicion of violating the Swords and Firearms Control Law.
