Imo Customs seizes N870m goods in one month

It was gathered that the seizure was made by the command between January 1 and 31, 2021. The DPV of the foreign rice was put at N31,380,000; used clothes – N7,800,000; pharmaceutical products – N819,200,000; foreign Eva soap – N4,176,000; and vehicle – N7,354,345, making a total of N869,550,345. Briefing journalists on Friday in Owerri, the Customs Area Controller, Yusuf Lawal, stated that the bags of foreign rice were evacuated from a warehouse along Elelenwo Road in Port Harcourt.

Oyo/Osun Customs intercepts 500 bags of foreign rice

By Suleiman Shehu Ibadan, Feb. 11,2021 The Oyo/Osun Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has intercepted six vehicles loaded with 500 bags of 50 kilogrammes foreign rice with Duty Paid Valued (DPV) at N22,329,000. The NCS Area Comptroller, Controller Adamu Abdulkadir, disclosed this on Thursday while briefing newsmen at the command’s headquarters in Ibadan. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the command had on Feb.4 showcased seized 3,052 foreign bags of rice and other contrabands. Abdulkadir said that the 500 bags of foreign rice were intercepted by the officers of the command on Wednesday night between the border of Oyo and Kwara States.

Customs raids rice stores, intercepts contraband in tanker

Thu Feb 11 2021 The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has raided rice markets and warehouses in Lagos where it evacuated 1,930 bags of rice worth N708 million just as it intercepted a tanker-load of rice in Katsina. The Comptroller General Strike Force carried out the raid in Lagos and Ogun states where the seized goods were taken to the Customs warehouse in Ikeja, Lagos. Daily Trust had recently reported the flooding of parboiled foreign rice across markets despite its ban. The Comptroller General of Customs, Col. Hameed Ali (Rtd) held a meeting with Customs Area Controllers on the action. Briefing newsmen in Lagos yesterday, the coordinator, CGC’s Strike Force, Zone A, Lagos, Deputy Comptroller Ahmadu Shuaibu, said the directive was to boost the local production of rice.
