Sno-King School Retirees which includes retired educators from the Edmodns, Northshore and Shoreline School Districts has chosen four students to receive $2,000 scholarships for the 2021-2022 school year to begin their university education.
In addition, through the generosity of former member Winnie Smith who left a donation in her will Sno-King School Retirees will be able to offer each students an additional three years of financial help to become an educator.
In Edmonds School District, the following students were selected:
Charlotte Appel
Charlotte Appel, Meadowdale High School, will be attending Luther College and is totally into music. Her goal is to be a high school band director. She is senior drum major of the Meadowdale Pep Band, has been a mentor for the Edmonds School District All-Girls’ Honors Jazz Ensemble, a member of the WMEA All-State Concert Ban

Sno-King School Retirees has announced the award of additional grants to local educators for the 2020-21 school year.
Each fall Sno-King School Retirees (SKSR) offers grants of up to $250 to its active members for special projects that enrich their students’ educational experience. This year, the board of SKSR an organization composed of retired and active employees of the Edmonds, Northshore, and Shoreline School Districts –decided to accept a second round of applications and recently awarded $1,454 in eight additional grants for the 2020-21 school year.
The grants are for special projects that enrich their students’ educational experience, such as field trips, guest speakers, materials for integrated units of study, or for materials/equipment to augment their students’ learning (for example, noise-cancelling headphones).

Sno-King School Retirees, an organization composed of retired and active employees of the Edmonds, Northshore and Shoreline School Districts, has awarded 16 grants to its active members for special projects that enrich their students’ educational experience.
Grants are awarded each year, and usually include field trips, guest speakers or materials for integrated units of study, or materials/equipment to augment their students’ learning (for example, noise-cancelling headphones). Because of the uncertainty about when schools would reopen and social distancing restrictions, this year’s applications needed to be for projects and activities that could be conducted remotely.
