The Haystack project will include 51 SG 5.0-145 wind turbines and 18 safe harbor turbines. Nacelles and hubs for the turbines will be manufactured in both Hutchinson and the corporation’s Agreda, Spain facilities in order to meet delivery timelines, said Myca Welch, a company spokesperson in Hutchinson. The Hutchinson plant has been building a variation of the SG 5.0 since February, Welch said. The SG 5.0-145 wind turbine features a state-of-the-art control system and enhanced blade aerodynamics that optimize power generation, the release stated. Thanks to its “OptimaFlex” technology, the turbine also features a flexible power rating ranging between 4.0 and 5.0 MW, providing a tailored solution that fits the specific conditions of each site.
