The budget awaits Gov. Jay Inslee’s signature. The 50-year-old affordable senior independent living facility Campus Towers is slated to receive $301,000 for roof repairs. The 37-year-old inpatient and at-home hospice facility Community Home Health & Hospice will receive $765,000 toward a multi-million-dollar remodel. Campus Towers Campus Towers Administrator Marchelle Knapp said the nonprofit’s 30-year-old roof is “in desperate need of repair.”

Jan. 6 Updated at 8:45 a.m. The Washington state Department of Health reported 2,337 new cases of COVID-19 and 59 deaths Tuesday. Pierce County reported 210 cases Tuesday and five new deaths. Pierce County has a total of 312 deaths likely caused by COVID-19 as of Tuesday, according to the Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department. Statewide totals from the illness caused by the coronavirus are at 258,767 cases and 3,541 deaths. The case total includes 10,187 cases listed as probable. Those numbers are up from 256,430 cases and 3,482 deaths on Monday. DOH revises previous case and death counts daily.

Theft — Longview police Thursday arrested Colleen Francis Casper, 41, of Astoria, Ore., on suspicion of second-degree theft.  Drugs — Cowlitz County sheriff s deputies Thursday arrested Teresa Marie Lock, 30, of Woodland on suspicion of a felony drug offense and using or delivering drug paraphernalia.  Harassment — Longview police Thursday arrested Robert Zachary Oliver, 36, of Longview on suspicion of felony harassment, fourth-degree domestic violence assault and third-degree malicious mischief.   Malicious mischief — Kelso police Thursday arrested Maurice Allen Williams, 32, of Longview on suspicion of second-degree malicious mischief.  Theft — Longview police Thursday arrested Jason Clyde Woods, 49, of Longview on suspicion of attempted second-degree theft and third-degree malicious mischief.
