UNIVERSITI Kuala Lumpur Branch Campus – Malaysian Institute of Marine Engineering Technology (UniKL-MIMET) was established in 2004 in a collaboration between Majlis Amanah Rakyat and the Australian government, represented by International Training Australia.
It offers a number of industry specific programmes aimed at producing highly competent personnel for the marine and maritime industry.
Academic courses include ship design, ship construction and boat building, which uniquely integrates theoretical teaching with practical application.
UniKL-MIMET is located in Lumut, a coastal town off Manjung in Perak. It is about 84km from the capital city of Ipoh and is the gateway to Pangkor Island.

Maine Maritime Academy holds its Change of Command Ceremony.
Castine Maine Maritime Academy held its Change of Command Ceremony last month, welcoming a new group of students into leadership roles. Among the incoming class of 2022 Wedge and Company Commanders were Regimental Physical Training Instructor: Midshipman 2/C Kristian Kibler, Marine Engineering Operations, of Camden and Bravo Company: Midshipman 2/C Sawyer King, Marine Engineering Technology, of Appleton.
This annual ceremony honors the symbolic and physical transfer of authority and responsibilities between two classes of student leaders; graduating First Class Midshipmen pass their leadership positions to Second Class Midshipmen who will guide the Regiment through next spring.
