The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) has signed a memorandum of understanding with Singaporean investment company Temasek on decarbonising the maritime industry, it said on April 21.
MPA and Temasek will explore ways of decarbonising port operations, and developing and using low-carbon and/or alternative marine energy sources. They will also look at decarbonising other parts of the global and regional maritime supply chain.

The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) has awarded a third LNG bunker supplier license to Total’s subsidiary in charge of worldwide bunkering activities, Total Marine Fuels Private Limited, for a five-year term starting 1 January 2022.
This achievement follows a 10-year agreement signed by Total back in 2019, to develop an LNG bunker supply chain in the port of Singapore. It reaffirms the company’s commitment to contribute to the country’s ambition in becoming a key LNG bunkering hub for Asia. It also underscores Total’s confidence in the role of natural gas for the global maritime industry’s energy transition and in its potential to further reduce carbon emissions from ships, through the development and future introduction of carbon-neutral bioLNG.

Singapore Awards 3rd LNG Bunkering Licence
The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) has awarded a third LNG bunkering licence, to France s Total for a five-year term starting January 1, 2022, it said on February 26.
Total will join FueLNG and Pavilion Energy as a licensed LNG bunkering provider at the port of Singapore. MPA invited bids from new bunkering candidates in October last year.
“Total Marine Fuels Private Limited is a global LNG supplier and an experienced operator providing end-to-end LNG bunkering solutions that will complement the existing two licensees – FueLNG Pte Ltd and Pavilion Energy Singapore Pte Ltd – to drive demand and grow LNG bunkering volumes in Singapore,” MPA said.
