Fantastic passwords, and where your children can find them
While many of today’s parents grew up during an age where the Internet and the World Wide Web were just in their beginnings, for today’s kids the virtual world is all but inseparable from the real one. That, of course, presents its own set of challenges for parents to tackle, such as how to teach their offspring proper cybersecurity habits without it seeming like too much of a boring and tedious task.
None is more important than teaching them how to protect their online accounts since they are likely to create quite a few of them. So, teaching them proper password hygiene early on will carry through into their adult lives. But since you are going to be dealing with children, it is important to make the lessons accessible, understandable, fun and easy to remember. To mark World Password Day, which takes place on the first Thursday of every May, we’ll look at some ways you can make password hygiene for kids’ fun.

World Password Day was on May 6 and to mark the occasion, we conducted a poll on our website asking our readers if they use a password manager on their devices. Some browsers and devices come with built-in password managers that help automatically fill out your passwords. You can also use a third-party password manager to do the job of storing your sensitive passwords or help generate more secure passwords for your online accounts.

The first Thursday of May is World Password Day, and this year it’s today, 6 May 2021. First celebrated in 2013, this day is meant to serve as a reminder of the importance of good password hygiene.
Today is the eighth annual World Password Day, aimed at encouraging everyone to choose and protect more secure passwords.
But a number of infosec professionals argue that this should be the last time this day is acknowledged.
The fact is passwords aren’t secure anymore. People choose weak passwords that can be guessed or cracked with brute force attacks. They also share and re-use passwords on multiple websites, cost employers money by asking IT to reset passwords and cost businesses money by abandoning purchases because they forget passwords.
Numerous studies show that credentials theft is one of the leading contributors to data breaches.
