The leader of Boko Haram terrorists, Abubakar Shekau, has lambasted Kaduna-based Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, for negotiating with bandits.
Gumi had recently embarked on a tour to armed bandits’ hideouts in the forests to strike peace deals with the criminals.

The cleric’s tour had drawn mixed reactions among Nigerians, with many, including the governor of Kaduna state Nasir El-Rufai, condemning the move.
But in an audio that is 1 hour and 55 minutes long, obtained by DAILY NIGERIAN, Shekau said Gumi was among those who deliberately transgress.

Despite reassurances by government, the deteriorating state of security in the country, particularly in the northeast, is daily testing the might of security agencies.
ABUJA – The Federal Government says it will not engage mercenaries in the ongoing fight against insurgency, banditry and other violent crimes across the country.
Retired Maj.-Gen Babagana Munguno, the National Security Adviser (NSA) to the President, made the position of the government known at the third edition of Villa Media Briefing on Thursday in Abuja.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the briefing focused on the nation’s security challenges and efforts of the government towards restoring peace to troubled areas.
NAN reports that the House of Representatives had, on March 10, asked the Federal Government to hire foreign mercenaries to combat Boko Haram insurgents.
