Nayanima Basu 1 January, 2021 8:51 am IST Text Size: A+ New Delhi: Amid the growing political and constitutional crisis in Kathmandu, Nepal’s Foreign Minister Pradeep Kumar Gyawali is all set to visit New Delhi in mid-January to hold the India-Nepal joint commission meeting with External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, ThePrint has learnt.  Gyawali will be accompanied by a high-powered delegation, and will discuss “all issues of bilateral importance”, which includes the contentious Kalapani-Lipulekh border issue, official sources told ThePrint.

The rival faction of the ruling Nepal Communist Party has announced third phase of agitation against Prime minister KP Oli’s decision of dissolving the House. In the latest blow to the unstable political scene in Nepal, Prime Minister KP Oli has been expelled from the ruling Nepal Communist Party with Election Commission refusing to recognise either faction of the party, one led by Oli and other by Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Madhav Kumar.  The crisis was kickstarted by Oli decision back in December 2020 to dissolve the House of Representatives, the lower house of the Nepali Parliament and touted the move as the only way to resolve the budding disputed and non-cooperation in the party that according to him led to a “state of inaction”.
