THE Malaysian Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) is recommending a variation of price clause be included for government projects to reduce the burden of contractors being affected by current building material inflation.
CIDB chief executive Ahmad ‘Asri Abdul Hamid said including it during the movement control order (MCO) period would also guarantee projects are finished on time.

The North West provincial government is today entering into an agreement with women in the construction sector, pledging to advance transformation and gender parity in the sector.
The provinceâs Premier, Job Mokgoro and Human Settlements MEC, Mmoloki Cwaile are in a ceremony beginning at 10 am expected to sign a memorandum of understanding with the provincial leadership of South African Women in Construction (SAWIC). This memorandum sets to advance transformation in the sector by ensuring women form part of the human settlements delivery chain.

PETALING JAYA: After nearly a month, work to dismantle a crane gantry and concrete beams at the Sungai Besi-Ulu Kelang Elevated Expressway (SUKE) that fell and killed several individuals has finally been completed.
According to SUKE, work to dismantle and remove the gantry and beams that collapsed in the March 22 incident in Alam Damai was completed on Sunday (April 18).
It also said the dismantling and removal works were carried out by Projek Lintasan Sungai Besi-Ulu Kelang Sdn Bhd via its contractor, Syarikat Muhibbah Perniagaan dan Pembinaan Sdn Bhd.
The work was also monitored by the Malaysian Highway Authority, the Occupational Safety and Health Department, and the Construction Industry Development Board in order to ensure that everything was done in adherence to standard operating procedure, SUKE said in a statement on Monday (April 19).
PUTRAJAYA: The special Cabinet committee on anti-corruption discussed the need to amend the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Act to act against those who sell government tenders and projects.
It was among the issues discussed during the meeting chaired by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin on Monday (April 19) here.
The Governance, Integrity and Anti-Corruption Centre (GIACC) said the amendment was needed to boost integrity and transparency in government procurement and to deter the involvement of parties with vested interests such as cartels.
It said the meeting also agreed that the beneficiary ownership initiative must be expedited to ensure transparency in government procurement.
