Hearing my non-profit’s namesake as the kettle began to spit and shout, I realized I had to dive further into “Ankles,” or my work would never forgive me. The song seemed silly from the first lines, “I am thankful for my ankle. And I never think about them, but they balance me wherever I go. WILMINGTON Lisa Rae Glazier, 48, peacefully passed away Sunday, Feb. 21, 2021, at Lower Cape Fear LifeCare Center with her husband and mother at her side. Lisa was born Nov. 13, 1972, in Concord, the daughter of Norma Hunnings Dunn and David Ray Dunn. Lisa grew up near the Crystal Coast of North Carolina, where she developed a lifelong love for the beach, sunshine and flip-flops. She earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Family Services and Early Child Development from East Carolina University. She was a dedicated public servant working for several non-profit agencies and North Carolina’s Child Development Service Agency. She spent most of her career coordinating services for children with special needs. Lisa had a compassionate heart with great empathy for new mothers. She would often befriend mothers who were isolated by the demands of caring for young children with special needs. Feb 23, 2021 POWELL Kirsten Marie Leetch Pepperney, 47, passed away peacefully in her home, Friday evening, Feb. 19, 2021, surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Kirsten was born Sept. 12, 1973, in Youngstown, the daughter of David and Karen Freeze Leetch. She married the love of her life, Jeff Pepperney, July 18, 1998, and together, they raised two beautiful sons, Luke and Mark.
