Press Release: Measure J Transforms Numerous School Sites
Fairfield, CA – April 30, 2021 – Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District (FSUSD) is nearing the completion of the Measure J Bond program. Staff recently provided an update to the Governing Board on the past, present and future projects tied to Measure J funding. After viewing the many photos that highlighted the transformative improvements that have occurred over the past five years, Board President Jonathan Richardson remarked, “The presentation knocked me out of my chair… it excites me about what we are doing to address the deficiencies… breathing new life into education.” Board Member Craig Wilson commented that he hopes the community sees the “dramatic upgrades in a relatively short time period.” Mr. Wilson speculated that completing so much in a five-year span is unprecedented.

The Palm Springs Unified School District Board of Education approved the appointment of Dr. Mike Swize as the new superintendent.
The district announced that Swize signed a three-year contract with a salary of $260,000 per year.
“Dr. Swize has the experience, knowledge, wisdom, history and talent to take Palm Springs Unified to the next level,” said Board of Education President Timothy Wood. “We are confident he is the right person to lead our team in pursuit of academic excellence and social and emotional well-being for all of our students.”

Press Release: FSUSD Prepares for Students to Return to Classroom
Schools requesting parents complete “Intent to Return” forms by February 26th.
Fairfield, CA (February 22, 2021) – The FSUSD Governing Board took action to return to a hybrid model once Solano County maintains five consecutive days in the Red Tier. As a result, staff is putting the final touches on preparing the schools for the return of having students in-person.
As a part of the approved hybrid model, parents will have the option for their children to return for in-person instruction or continue in distance learning. “Intent to Return” forms are being emailed to parents from each principal at every FSUSD school. Parents will also be able to access the “Intent to Return” forms on the FSUSD website at fsusd.org, or from their children’s school.
