The board of East Alton Wood River High School has adjusted its grading scale for the remainder of the school year. The board voted unanimously to change the “D” grading scale from a 69-64, with anything below 64 previously a failing grade, to 69-60.
District Superintendent John Pearson says he is hopeful the new scale is a motivator for students who are struggling to know that that they can still pass an exam, or assignment, with a 60-percent. He said many students are struggling with on-line learning this semester and is hopeful this will be a motivation to some to work hard as they close out the month.
